GI JOE vol2 no.2 ALTERNATE CV by gatchatom GI JOE vol2 no.2 ALTERNATE CV by gatchatom
So this was the original version of the cover to GI JOE Vol. 2 #2. There was some concern about the blood, and the weapon pointed at the back of Zartan's head.

SWEET! I love that cross hatch brush in the background! Very subtle. Great face work on this too!

Hey what else are we supposed to do as artists! Got to keep moving forward. These kids today are learning twice as fast as us. Got to keep it fresh!

I remember in High School seeing an old copy of American Artist magazine with an interview with Norman Rockwell, and how he was experimenting in his work in his early 80's. That struck me and has stayed with me. I have SO far to go in learning about art, and that it's a journey without a destination.

Indeed! I guess what keeps me going... and this might sound terrible, but meeting some old schoolers and hearing them complaining about how they can't get any work, etc. When you see the work, as much as I love it, it's just the same stuff they've been doing since I was in diapers. You MUST push yourself into uncharted territory. It's scary and frustrating, but ultimately rewarding.

Mostly I just get bored with my own stuff and jealous of what everyone else is doing. HAHA! :)
